Field Notes

Notes:

A very interesting insect, another one for my never-saw-before list. It is about 5 cm (2 in) long, but its antennae are even longer than its body. Its eyes have an exquisite star pattern. There were three specimens in the same branch I saw this one.

Great!! Awesome creature. Those star eyes... quite interesting! Thanks for sharing, Sergio!
Thanks a lot, Martin. I have another, earlier spoting http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/8219550 that looks quite different than this one, that's why I didn't associate both specimens.
This is another very fine spotting asergio. There are a few divergent groups among neuroptera. I don't know them so well but you might find your match in bugguide. http://bugguide.net/node/view/29833 Here's another lacewing http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/8190334 This is another very fine spotting asergio.
wow, never saw that before, too. Great.
Deleted my earlier comment. I just noticed the other insect in front of it with your third pic. Awesome photos and insect.
No Cindy, what you see there is the wing of another specimen that was a bit above the one in foreground.
