Notes:

These must be paper birch, but I'm not sure. They don't have the long white bark. Does anyone know if this is a paperbark maple?

We have trees close to here that look very similar to these. Will have post photos to see if they are the same. Love how the park peels in what is paper-like pieces. The chickadees and house finches tend to hang out in the ones here.
It's not a maple. The buds appear alternate (a maple's would be opposite). I think it's a river birch, Betula nigta
