Yes, it's a lovely habit in a poor country like we where, it's incredible the among of time that people spend on care there gardens,in the bigest citys like Lisbon, Porto,Braga,etc...it was a way to show the status of the person,it's a tradition spread all over the country and i think it's a mediterranean tradition to because i se pictures of that from,Spain,italy,south of France,Grece and in the Magreb countrys(north Africa)Turquie and Meadle east to,i think in our days,this costume is increasing again,after a period of decay,it's a good thing i think:)
