Field Notes

Description:

Elongated black beetle about 15mm aprox.
The head is triangular and the antennae are long, thick, and serrated. They are protected from predators by being toxic.
The vertical lines at Elytra made me think is Plateros genus.

Habitat:

Spotted at Campuhan Ridge Walk, Ubud - Bali.

Notes:

Family: Lycidae
Subfamily: Platerodinae
Genus: Plateros
Species: Plateros sp.

The predaceous larvae grow under bark or in leaf litter.
