Description:

Another traveller just arrived on Valentines day - Noisy in the trees and hungry feeding from seed in the sunflower head hung under the feeder. Length 19cm (7.5 inch) Wingspan 30cm (12 inch) Male brighter than the duller (brown) female. The female parasites in other birds nests.

Habitat:

Farm fields woods and gardens.

These guys are not my favorites as they stake out the bluebird boxes in an attempt to lay their eggs in the nests but I do do love their strange call - it sounds just like water dripping into a puddle!
