Useful discussion here - it has helped me ID a previously unknown similar spotting of mine: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/12426012 Thanks! :)
agree with Aaron_G the same millipede http://www.flickr.com/photos/22048801@N03/5844414886/
My wildlife expert colleagues in Xalapa tell me it's a Millipede (Order Polydesmida).. and around 5 different people told me this..
I'm not an expert, but maybe this could help with id?
I found a couple of other photos of one that looks just like this one but still no species listed. Amazing color!
How long is it? 4-5 cm?? It's beautiful :)
never seen a blue one before
This was in my shower for a week when I first arrived to Xalapa (well Coatepec) I am from UK so never seen anything like it before. I honestly thought it was a hairclip until one day it started to move!!
Beautiful color, can be added into the mission for the color blue.
Hola Luz Violeta, tengo un milpies similar al tuyo http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/8534494
lindisisisima. bienvenida a project noah Luz! puedes agregar esta al mission "Blue"
It's not venomous at all. Some millipedes have chemical defense, but to handle this one would not be harmful.
Awesome spot! Welcome to the Community Luz!
Hello LuzVioleta Welcome to Project Noah Incredible spotting
This is actually a millipede, as they have 2 pairs of legs on most body segments. Centipedes only have 1 pair on most segments.
I wonder if it's toxic or venomous, it sure is bright!
