It's definitely a beetle grub but it will be impossible to narrow it down by your image. I once had a wooden stool brought to me with a larva similar to this living inside, eating the wood. In my search for an ID, I found there are A LOT of beetle species with larvae similar in form to this.
Agree with Keith. His suggestion is a member of the Longhorn beetle family so look through these. I think yours is similar; mind you, your pic looks like the grub is completely stretched out so it looks thinner. http://bugguide.net/node/view/162214/bgimage
