Species ID Suggestions

Smith's Pixie

Melanis smithiae

Comments (13)

Actually your both suggestions are correct but you did not mentioned exact Binomial ID in first.. I have removed it.
I did a little check and think my previous guess of Melanis smithae is correct despite the missing spots.
The wings should be more closed to cover the spots on the hindwing.
I am not sure about the second 2 spots. They should be directly next to the body (segmentation stripe), which is not really covered by the forewing in this shot.
There are 2 Red sopts on both Underwings and Overwings. In this spotted picture Red spots are hide under Overwings.
Thanks Ashish, but there are no pictures of the other species than Pixie, which it is not. I am just looking for the missing 2 spots...
Hi Take a look at this website... for matching specie... http://tolweb.org/Melanis/104652
Riodinidae/Metalmark. Looks identical to Melanis smithiae, besides the two yellow spots on the hindwing. I try to get a verification of Smithiae.
