Description:

Ulex (gorse, furze or whin) is a genus of flowering plants in the family Fabaceae. Mature plants have spines instead of leaves on and yellow pea-like flowers.

Habitat:

Wildlife corridor near the beach on Phillip Island.

Notes:

"This plant has beed declared a weed of National Signifance"
Gorse was introduced as an ornamental plant or hedge, has become an invasive species due to its aggressive seed dispersal; it has proved very difficult to eradicate and detrimental in native habitats.
