Orange Sulfur

The orange sulfur (Colias eurytheme) is about 1 3/8 – 2 ¾ inches long. This butterfly is yellow and has a pink outline with about 5 black spots near the outline. Near the center is a big white dot rimmed in pink. Their big green eye on their fuzzy pink head is fascinating. The orange sulfur is also known as the alfalfa butterfly. Once the butterfly lives one day they can start mating. Soon the female starts to lay eggs on host plant leaves. They can lay hundreds of eggs at a time!!! The life span of this creature is 2-4 weeks but if it successfully migrates it can live up to a year. The family of this butterfly is called the Pieride. Finally some of the orange sulfur’s favorite food are nectar from a dandelion, milk weeds, goldenrods, and asters. Hope you like my presentation. Thanks for reading this! 
