Field Notes

Description:

This species is found across North America and has been introduced into Hawaii. Larvae feed on a wide range of aphids (Rotheray & Gilbert 1999). They are very common around California vegetable crops and have been suggested as useful biological control agents (Bugg et al. 2008).

Habitat:

UC Berkeley Botanical Gardens, Old Rose Garden, Berkeley, CA.
