I think you guys are right this is a mistake posting, saw this on Stanford campus in California. Ignore my first comment that was done by a teenager from my church!
That's what I was thinking Liam, as I also see he has spottings on the same day from Egypt. Though he kind of looks like a superhero in his pic, I don't think he can travel that fast. LOL. On a more serious note though, i was also trying to notice the plant it is on. To me looks more of an arid or dessert type plant.??
Ghobes, I see you have spottings in both California and New York. Am I correct in saying you accidentally mapped this one in the wrong location? Definitely a Western Scrub Jay (Aphelocoma californica immanis) either way.
If you saw this in NY then it may be a vagrant pushed up from Florida some time ago by Hurricane Irene. You should notify your local Audubon Society about the exact location you saw this bird.
Gee, it looks like a Scrub Jay to me (Western or Island). But it shouldn't be in NY! They are both western species. You should only have blue jays but even for a juvi I don't see any white on the wings or on the cheeks. hmmm??? I think we need other opinions here from more experienced birders.
