The domestic pigeon is a bird in the Columbidae family columbiforme. Also known as the common pigeon or pigeon-the-rocks.
Columbus Columba derives from the Latin meaning dove and livia means pale, livid. Columba is the "term" radical for other genera of the family Columbidae.
