Field Notes

Description:

These small leafhoppers were all black with each wing showing one oblique and one transverse thin white line. The two hoppers featured here had some minor differences; the one in pics 1 & 2 did not have a white posterior pronotal margin and there were no other white spots on the wings. Pics 3, 4 & 5 are of another hopper on the same plant and this shows a clear white margin on the prothorax and a chevron marking across the inner margins of both wings.
These hoppers had a yellow underside (pic 6) and legs (up to femur) and orange brown eyes.

Habitat:

Spotted on a young eucalyptus tree in a reserve.

Notes:

Family: Cicadellidae
Subfamily: Eurymelinae
Tribe: Eurymelini
