Description:
Macrolepiota procera is a common mushroom in the temperate regions of the world; usually it has a large cap and a long stem with a ring on it. The mushroom can grow in fields or in woodland. The cap size can reach up to 40 cm across, it has a prominent umbo (a nipple like raised area in the center of a mushroom cap), color of the cap is pale buff or grey brown covered in darker shaggy scales. The gills are free and white in color. The stem, which is bulbous at the bottom, is covered brown felty covering. The ring is large, white on top and brownish on the bottom side, it can move freely along the stem.
Habitat:
Found in Belgrad Forest, a mixed deciduous forest located in Istanbul, Turkey. Approx. Elevation: 150m.
