Doesn't look like Dung-Loving to me...I think the right direction for this is  a Nidula species, since the Dung-Loving Birds Nest in listed under a genus in which it is not located in Rhode Island. Nevertheless, I think we all can I agree is is some form of Bird's Nest, Nidulariaceae sp.
the striatus looks more white/greyish metallic at the inside, and has horizontale pattern, those from this link ( http://healthyhomegardening.com/Mushroom.php?pid=42 ) look more like the above. Maybe it is also just the light, not my call!
Nidula is the most widespread Genus of Bird's Nest Fungi in the Northeastern US
I apologize, that species is not found in Rhode Island. I have updated the species suggestion.
bird nest fungus.(fam. nidulariaceae), but the textures are unfamiliar for me. nice one. nicest species of this family i saw so far. :)
