Lace Monitor (Bells form)

Varanus varius

Wow, I have never seen a monitor like that. Let me get my Reptile book... OK, I believe it is Varanus Varius (Bell's form). It's the same species as the typical lace monitors we see around here, but with the broad bands in its markings. The Bell's form tends to be restricted to northern NSW and southern central Queensland, which fits with where you saw it. Very cool!! : )
thanks Ashish. I am not really a fan of reptiles, but he wasnt interested in me, only wanted the fish we were catching to eat!!
Amazing creature.. Its surely learning here for every user.. Nice work Karen..!!
