Field Notes
Description:
The male is black with orange on the underparts, shoulder patch and rump with white barring on the wings (shown). The female is a yellowish brown above with darker wings and a dull orange on the breast. They are about 18 cm in length.
Habitat:
Edges of forests and in parks across eastern North America.
