Description:

spiney, yellow flowered plant brought to this coast by Scottish settlers, which now covers entire hillsides with impenetrable growth and dark yellow flowers that cover the entire plant during the late winter/early spring months.

Oily and highly flammable it is responsible for the great Bandon fire of the 1800's

Habitat:

The areas around the towns of Bandon and Langlois - this was spotted just South of Langlois. The photos show the yellow growth in all directions
