Field Notes

Description:

Plants with linear, drooping, light gray-green colored leaves. Leaves have acute tips and cuneate base. Plants are attached to tree with disc-shaped structures varying in diameter from 2-3inches up to near a foot; see the second of the three uploaded images, which is a cropped enlargement from the first image.

Habitat:

Suburban neighborhood on mesic, tropical, insular lowland plateau.

Notes:

Spotted growing on a very large (perhaps 50 feet across the spread of its limbs), deciduous tree. The spotting may be purely epiphytic or it may be parasitic. I don't have enough knowledge to be able to judge.

You're welcome Allen! They are a popular plant in Florida. Many people keep them in hanging baskets outside on their trees!
