Description:

This insect looks like a cross between a katydid and grasshopper. It measure about 1.5" long and was resting under a Croton leaf.

Habitat:

Tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica half way through the six month dry season.

I vote for katydid because it has long antennae, and it is arboreal rather than on grass.
