But I'm also not sold on your ID, it is most likely related but the back patterns differ too greatly. However, the sides of the insect (look closely and you can see greenish marks) do seem to be somewhat similar, as well as the shape and red hue. Possibly an Australian version!
O.o thats martinl I didn't notice that difference. You're right of course. My bad.
This one from the phillipines is close http://www.whatsthatbug.com/2011/07/05/unknown-jewel-bug-from-the-philippines-2/
Be careful Psilo because your link to jewel beetles(O=Coleoptera; F=chrysomelidae) is a different group of insects. The spotting here is called a Jewel Bug (Order = Hemiptera; family = Scutelleridae)
Thank you martinl & Psilo. I cant find this one anywhere either. Thank you very much for your help though. I wish I could've gotten a clearer picture of him, he was amazing & I've never seen his type before.
http://australianmuseum.net.au/Jewel-Beetle I feel like this website could help a lot more if it had pictures. however, depending how interested you are, you could visit the museum's location
This is a shied backed bug similar in shape to this green one. http://www.brisbaneinsects.com/brisbane_stinkbugs/GreenShieldBackedBug.htm It is in the Family Scutelleridae because its wings are totally covered by a single plate (scutellum). But I cannot find a red match for you =(
