This is my crane fly. http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/9450655
this fly I thought has unusually pretty wings.
Don't give up yet. Some people can id with the smallest detail available. Hope fully somebody will notice this pretty crane fly. I am hope ful. :)
Ya, I may not be able to narrow this to the genus, let alone the species. There isn't really enough detail in these shots for me to definitively ID it. I really appreciate your help!
Cindy, the head and thorax look OK to me. I am wondering about the wings. I guess the way the light falls on the wings really makes a difference in the color of the wings.
I see what you mean! I was thinking it resembled the Winter Crane Fly, Trichocera sp but I don't know for sure.
I tried to observe the thorax and I did find some similarity,
Hi Emma, Thank you for the suggestion. I don't believe it's N. wulpiana as there wasn't any orange/light brown color and the thorax didn't have the pattern of N. wulpiana. The abdomen is striped though!
