Field Notes

Description:

Lycaenidae; Lycaeninae; Polyommatini; Zizeeria karsandra Moore 1865. "A cosmopolitan group of small, delicate butterflies, many of which exhibit iridescent or powdery blue dorsal wing surfaces, especially in males. The hindwings of Polyommatini tend to be evenly rounded." https://philippinelepidopt.wixsite.com/butterflies/lycaenidae-lycaenina…

Habitat:

Spotted on wild grasses in the rice mill backyard.

Notes:

The two pictures of copulating couples shown above were taken on the same patch of wild grasses, one on Jun 18, 2016 and the other on Jun 29, 2016. I have placed them together here to illustrate that this species is thriving in this area, to the extent that copulating couples can be frequently spotted.
