Field Notes

Description:

Cut and paste from Wikipedia:
"The moose (North America) or Eurasian elk (Europe) (Alces alces) is the largest extant species in the deer family."
Eurasian Elk... that's one thing I didn't know. You learn something every day :)

Habitat:

It's common and not endangered all over the northern hemisphere.
In sweden we have organised hunting periods to keep the population managable, and the meat is a welcome addition to our freezer stocks.

Notes:

The King of The Forest they are called, and I really enjoy having them lurking around when I'm out hiking or foraging. They are admireably quiet when they sneak away. Heavy animals that are runs through the forest without a sound, without even breaking a twig. You just see a shadow running off. I love them.
The footprint was aprox 15 cm's.
