Field Notes

Description:

at most 3 inches in diameter (of the live specimens I saw)

Habitat:

spotted on beach at low tide

Notes:

There were quite a number of these tumbling in with the surf. I they landed up-side down you could see their tiny spines wiggling intil the next wave; if they landed upright, they quicly buried themselves in the sand. (as in the last photo)
