Field Notes

Description:

This large fellow was just leaving his nest at the park, so I did not get a good frontal picture. There were stakes and ribbons around the nesting areas so that people were warned not to molest or disturb them.

Habitat:

Their nest are dug in the sand and only a heap of dirt and opening is the clue. They are protected because their habitat is being threatened.
