Description:

This bird was greyish overall ,a little bigger than a mockingbird and had a crest. It flew in from the open space.

I was hoping it would be a phainpepla. The colors were grey and there was a crest for sure. What is funny is that the bird has a crest in one picture and no crest in the other. it is the same bird for sure.
Liam ,the green tailed towhee has a crest. Chances of this one being a green tailed towhee is very less.
Was it windy? It does look like a Cardinal, but the bill is totally wrong. This is a California Towhee. Looks like it's having a bad hair day.
