Description:

Terrestrial salamander with smooth brown skin, slight spotting, prominent rib cage.

Habitat:

Under a piece of wood, coastal temperate rain forest.

Notes:

It's not hard to imagine this being here since some prehistoric epoch.

http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/8996047 He was trying to burrow into some loose hay. I"m pretty sure he damaged his skin(this is very fine, sharp edged hay) and I moved him to the woodpile, hoping he'd survive
It's been too wet most days for me to be in the garden, so I haven't seen any lately. These are from a while ago. Interesting you're seeing them now. Mostly I see them when I dig or when I move wood.
I posted one last week. They must be up and moving
