Hey, that's great advice. Thanks. We live in a big suburban area (2.8 million people) so I think whatever made those tracks was just wandering through and is unlikely to have stayed. Plus, while we get bears and even mountain lions on occasion, I'm not sure I want to attract or hold them in a neighborhood with this many little kids. Still, if they come through I wouldn't mind documenting their presence (which is also valuable). What sort of project are you working on? Have you seen the trail cam video by Parks Canada called "A Wild Year"? Very cool video.... Really am enjoying what you're capturing....
Good Luck Gordon! Try putting a can of sardines with little holes for the smell to come out, attached to a big rock/ log. It's the best for cats..
That is very cool. My wife gave me a trail cam last year and it has been a lot of fun. I get mostly deer, coyotes, wild turkeys, rabbits and squirrels. But, I wanted the camera because I found some very large round tracks in the snow a couple of years ago that I couldn't identify. They may have been bobcat tracks--can't imagine what else they were.
It's an old Moultrie Game Spy D50 I believe. I think the disadvantage of this one is that it only takes one pic per minute, but it works great. Thanks! :)
Great capture! What make & model of trail cam do you use? The results are excellent.
