What a scenic encounter Jason! Congratulations, it is our Spotting of the Day! "Spotting of the Day! The Pine Trail at the University of British Columbia Okanagan campus provides opportunities to connect with the surrounding woods and spot wildlife, such as this coyote (Canis latrans). Coyotes are noticeable for their ability to co-exist with humans in suburban and even urban areas. They play an important role in balancing ecosystems by controlling populations of deer, rodents, and other species. With the decrease of larger carnivores such as wolves, mountain lions and bears, currently coyotes are the apex predator in many ecosystems in North America".
