Field Notes
Description:
Bushtits are fairly plain brown-and-gray birds. Slightly darker above than below, they have brown-gray heads, gray wings, and tan-gray underparts. Plump bodies with a short neck and bill. Tail is long. Females have pale or yellowish eyes, while males (pic2) and juveniles are dark.
Habitat:
A flock of 20 plus birds attracted to thickets in my backyard. The thickets consist mainly of Blackberry, Raspberry, Grape and Tall Oregon grape.
Notes:
A year-round resident of the western United States and highland parts of Mexico, ranging from Vancouver through the Great Basin and the lowlands and foothills of California to southern Mexico and Guatemala.
