Description:
This Monarch Butterfly pupa has been hanging out in its chrysalis for going on two weeks now and is getting close to emerging. At this point you can see the color and lines in the wings that have formed inside but the overall color remains green still, it might still be a day or two.
Habitat:
Found pupating in a chrysalis hanging from a Tiger Lily leaf in the newly planted butterfly garden in our yard.
Notes:
This is one of two Monarch chrysalids we had in the butterfly garden this year. Two huge caterpillars showed up rather late in the season and ate up all of the Butterfly Weed that was planted before forming chrysalids.
