Wow, Emma, that is really awesome. (I think the little mantis babies inside the sack learned the meaning of shake, rattle and roll...)

Asergio,the strength of these strands is amazing. i had noticed several months ago,an incidence with a praying mantis egg case which is anchored on to our front door. There were about 70 miles per hour winds for several days. Branches from the pine tree in our backyard fell down. This egg sac swayed dangerously in the winds . it moved around,but it is still anchored as firmly as ever. Truly amazing.

Emma, actually it is only one strand. And it really is strong. There are several of these caterpillars around here, they keep shaking with the wind, it is very interesting.

Looks like tiny ,very delicate strands are holding it. The strands must be very strong.Almost invisible though!I Wold be safe from crawling ants for sure.
