Description:
Horned larks are 18 to 20 cm in length. Females have the same pattern as a male, but are smaller and have a slightly duller appearance. The male in summer has black "horns" tufts of feathers that give this species their name in North America. Known as Shore Lark in Eurasia.
Habitat:
Grasslands and other open areas; nests on ground.
