Don't worry they are very kind at the hospitals ;-)
Hmm, Austria seems to be dangerous, I am going to Vienna in June, so I might take some precautions...
;-) I just came back from freezing Austria, with wounded knee and black eye....
OK, ;-)... Wednesday, I am going to freezeing Helsinki...
Neither am I, but you are the expert ;) I think link 3, 5, 6, 7 and 8 looks pretty close, and they are also taken in Sweden. Let's say yes ;)
Hmm, shall I say yes or no? I am really not sure... http://www.lepiforum.de/cgi-bin/lepiwiki.pl?Melitaea_Athalia http://www.nagypal.net/norge/athalia.htm http://www.pbase.com/botb/image/136688404 http://www.pbase.com/bernte/image/83271213 http://www.pbase.com/bernte/image/110395965 I would slightly tend to yes: http://www.pbase.com/bernte/image/110395965 http://www.pbase.com/bister/image/62482110 http://www.pbase.com/bister/image/62813081 What do you think...??
Ok thank you :) So you still think it's an Athalia? Then I'll add the ID...
Do not bother about your reference book. Most important name is Athalia! The species name would never be changed (OK, there might be some exceptions...), although the taxonomists have changed the name of the genus. Sometimes it is also difficult to decide which name is now the actual taxon. In your case I think the new name is Melitaea and the older name is Mellicta. Looking for some references you will probably find both names, depending on the source and age of reference/book/website. Here is a link with Melitaea and Mellicta mentioned as synonym: http://www.leps.it/indexjs.htm?SpeciesPages/MellicAthal.htm
Ok confusing, I have a book where they use the names as different species, so I guess it's not the best refference book. I could see you used them like they were the same...
Mellicta is the older name for Melitaea (according to faunaorg).
Thank you :) I was in that area too, but I still don't think I can find the correct one... What is the difference between Melitaea and Mellicta
At first sight I would have said Melitaea athalia, but I do not have the time anymore for a second sight... And I don't think it is Britomartis.
