Sorry a typo should be Ortilia.
The shot itself is fantastic!!
Thgank you, Bayucca. About the photo's lighting, these babies stay put just for seconds, and most of times I am able to take only one or two photos, and often from a not so good position...
Nymphalidae, Melitaeini, most probably Orthilia orthia. Tricky shot due to the backlight and sunlight. I am not 100% sure, but in my eyes it fits quite well: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsg_db/3431150054/ http://www.faunaparaguay.com/nymphalinae.html http://www.flickr.com/photos/nsg_db/3430338061/ Really ver close is the other one: Orthilia ithra, but the spots and markings are different: http://www.neotropicalbutterflies.com/Site%20Revision/Pages/Nymphalidae_Pages/Nymphalinae/Nymphalinae_Pages/Ortilia_ithra.html What do you think?
