Field Notes

Description:

A dark brown rough looking weevil about 11mm long. It had a white median streak/patch running from the thorax down to the upper part of the elytra. The upper part of the elytra appeared to protrude as short horns laterally on either side. The weevil had short antennae with club-like ends. Eyes were prominent. All three pairs of limbs look robust and "hairy"

Habitat:

Eucalyptus forests - endemic to Australia. This weevil was accidentally exported overseas and is now a serious problem for the eucalyptus industry in several countries.

Notes:

This tiny little weevil lives on eucalyptus leaves mainly seven eucalyptus species - see wikipedia weblink
