Field Notes

Description:

Chest and belly pale cream with faint scale-like patterns. Black "pirate patch" over eyes. Back, especially wings are dark grey.

Habitat:

A patch of waste land near our hotel in Port Blair, Andamans. This was rich hunting ground for me.

Notes:

This bit of wasteland was right off a main road and the electric line that ran alongside served as a perch for another Brown Shrike...this one kept calling. It was a melodious call.
