Field Notes

Description:

Weak climbing plant with woody stems to approx. 1m high. Forms creamy coloured berries which are quite tasty but a little seedy.
Similar to B. scandens which is a low shrub rather than a climber and has recurved edges to the leaves.
A common garden escape from WA, B. heterophylla (Bluebell creeper) is also very similar but has shiny green leaves, smells of coriander and has dark purple berries.
All are members of the Pittosporaceae, related to Pittosporum undulatum and Bursaria spinsosa.
