Field Notes

Description:

The three lobed leaves are purple and sticky when young and become bright green with age. The small red flowers with yellow centres appear in clusters. These are followed by cherry-sized seed pods that are poisonous. Each pod containing 3-4 seeds. The pods dehisce explosively to release the seeds and most seeds fall within a few metres of parent plants. The seeds appear cute doll-shaped.

Habitat:

Forests on mountain slopes.
