Field Notes

Description:

Two mushrooms*, white with small black central spot and light brown scales. Caps convex, diameters ~ 65 mm. Cap margins thin, deteriorated. Gills white, close, free. Stems equal, white, fading to light brown toward base, ~ 3 mm diameter and ~ 80 mm long with annulus.

Habitat:

Suburban neighborhood on insular tropical upland plateau.

Notes:

Spotted growing in potted jade plant.

*There was a third individual, the “runt of the litter”, dimensions about 25% of the larger two. It was under one of the larger individuals and not visible in the imagery accompanying this spotting.
