Field Notes

Description:

Small plant resembling a Wandering Jew in form. Growing along my house slab near roof run-off. Blooming now 10/9/14 in SW Alabama

Habitat:

This is the only specimen I've seen on my property. Some purple Wandering Jew plants have bloomed (pink) for several years about nine feet away along the foundation. Could this be a "throwback"? It gets sun for about six hours or less per day in often very dry soil.

Species ID Suggestions

Asiatic dayflower

Commelina communis
