Field Notes

Habitat:

This tree housed the nests of at least 3 different species of birds. I saw grey heron, night heron and cormorant as well as a colony of flying foxes, all living together in the tree.

Social weavers are birds that build large compound community nests in several countries of Africa. You should see the picture of the spectacular nest using the key word.
Interesting that the park was full of Neem trees, and they all chose THIS tree! Would love to know the reason behind that.
what's that about the social weaver birds nests? The bats were ID'd as Indian Flying foxes. Hot property, that tree! Almost no place left to build!
Yes looks like a neem tree. Some birds eat the fruits...that may be a reason..
Great finding. Cormorant to herons...so diverse residents It's not the social weaver bird nests either. Are not some of them frugivorous bats?
There were many of these trees around. Strange how everyone nested in the same tree!
