Thanks Charlie. Just checked the book too Vinny and it looks spot-on. That burnt stuff is fascinating. This one was under a powerful MV light so I thought it might just be really burnt. Ahh nature!!
Sorry Vinny - didn't read down the posts too see you had already found it ...i was looking for another moth ID tonight and remembered this moth , with the black burnt looking bits on it :)
Two-coloured Notodontid, Sorama bicolor https://sites.google.com/site/insectsoftasmanialepidoptera/moths/superfamily-noctuoidea/notodontidae/genus-sorama Think i might have found it Mark ...splitting image of your spotting :)
Thanks snakes, Diaz and Vinny. Diaz we don't have the Phobotron in Australia unfortunately and it doesn't resemble any of our other Limacodids. Vinny I'll get my book out after dinner... thanks :-)
Had a flick through Peter Marriott's moths of Victoria (Noctuoidea) and Saroma bicolor seems a very great fit.
wow, weird! I am not sure what that cool moth is, or the egg....
