Field Notes

Description:

The flowers that grow grouped in inflorescences, are white. Sometimes they are born solitary in the axils of the leaves; they have a delicate perfume; both the calyx and the corolla are made up of white pieces, which is why they are confused. The corolla has a crown in the center from which the yellow stamens emerge, which contrasts with the white of the periantic pieces. Its well-known and appreciated fruit, the orange, is a globose berry.

Habitat:

In the garden of the Turia River, in the city of Valencia.

Notes:

The orange blossom flowers are collected when they are just opened or still unopened and they are carefully dried. Orange blossom has sedative and slightly hypnotic properties, it can be used to calm the nerves, fall asleep, remove premenstrual pain, stomach pain and headaches.
Orange blossom essential oil is extracted from the flower, also called neroli essential oil. The orange blossom has various uses, so it is a great help when it comes to natural medicine.
