Field Notes

Description:

Finch-like. Whitish overall, pale blaze of yellow extending from base of mandible through auriculars, to nape. Blackish tertials, and primaries all tipped with white edges.

Notes:

Spotted by friend at backyard feeder. Thank you Liam for pointing out that this individual is an examble of Leucism.

A leucistic male American Golfinch. Leucism is similar to albinism, but it's a decrease of pigment in the bird's feathers, as opposed to the total lack of pigment in the bird itself.
