Field Notes

Description:

Tan, short-furred monkeys that stood a bit less than a meter high when standing straight up. The members of the group were very dextrous, loud when arguing, and seemed to operate individually while moving in a loose group.

Habitat:

These monkeys were seen roaming the rooftops around a busy, loud, smelly street corner in downtown Agra in northern India.

Notes:

Nearer to the Taj Mahal were several groups of Rhesus macaque, but for what I know of them they have longer/shaggier fur than these monkeys.

injica, Project Noah is a community for educating & learning! I learn something new (usually many things!) every day. The world we live in is such an wonderful place, & this community shares such amazing spottings from around the globe so I know I will be forever learning!
i think you have to learn a bit more about genetics ;)
all right if macaques is the consensus - though every no-hair dog had no hair for an obvious (and usually nasty looking) reason while the few of these monkeys I got close to had no signs of mange sickness
and then talking about conditions of life in Agra, you can see no-tail, no-hair dogs, why poor strange monkey should be sth different!
Hi Curator of Good! I still believe these are Rhesus macaques. See what others think!
