Description:

Cap about 3.5cm across and fruitbody up to 6cm tall. Growing on dead wood in mixed woodland that has a lot of Rhododendron. I think most likely growing on falled branch of a coniferous tree. It had a kind of mealy taste. Toughshank, Collybia? I think the stem is too tough for a Mycena? It looks similar to a few others I've found in the past. This one grew on a pinecone: http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/23173113 this one was growing from deciduous tree; http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/17159608 Marasmiellus?

Thanks for the tip fungi, I've updated the title name
My guess is Mycena galericulata. It has a very tough stem, but hard to tell with certainty without a check in the microscope.
