Field Notes

Description:

Lily-like plant with orange flowers. The plant was not tall...may be 10-15 cm tall.

Habitat:

Baratang Island. On the trail leading to the mud volcano. This was hidden in the underbush and taking a one handed shot yet avoiding all the other plants crowding this one was quite a feat..

Notes:

Apparently this has medicinal properties. Also called Jewel of Burma, Orange Hidden Ginger, Pride of Burma or Burmese Hidden Lily. This species is native to the Andaman Islands.
